What Is A Ceramic Coating?

As long as you haven't been living under a rock, you've probably hear the term 'ceramic coating' at some point. Even if you've heard the term, you may still not be familiar with what it is. When most people think of protecting their vehicles paint, they think of waxing it. Car wax has been around forever but more recent technology has created a far better product, a ceramic coating. Ceramic Coatings are the best form of surface protection for your vehicles clear coat. They are a polymer solution that forms a chemical bond with your vehicles clear coat.

Because a ceramic coating forms a chemical bond with the clear coat, its able to last a very long time. The durability depends on the coating, but professional grade coatings can last anywhere from 2-5+ years. Ceramic coatings also have a top-notch resitance to chemicals and acid. You may not think much of common things like bug guts, bird poo, and tree sap but these substances are all acidic. Thats why if you dont clean them off fast enough, youll notice that they leave a mark behind. With a ceramic coating, you'll no longer have to worry about that. Ceramic coatings extreme chemical resistance will greatly increase the amount of time you have to clean off these substances before they leave marks on your clear coat

Ceramic Coatings vs Traditional Waxes

Ceramic coatings and waxes share alot of the same properties, both are going to protect your vehicles paint and have hydrophobic properties. The real difference is in the durability. Waxes provide protection for your vehicles paint but that protection usually only lasts a few months, waxes also have a fairly poor amount of protection against chemicals/acids. Unlike traditional waxes, a ceramic coating will bring you years of protection, fantastic chemical resistance, and self-cleaning abilities.

Yes you heard that right, self-cleaning abilities. Since ceramic coatings have such amazing hydrobic properties, its makes it hard for dirt and dust to stick to your vehicle. Since the dirst and dust will be barley stuck to your vehicle, the rain will be able to wash away most of the dirt. This doesnt mean you never have to wash your vehicle again, but it does mean your vehicle will stay looking cleaner for longer. The best part of getting a ceramic coating is that it makes maintenance a breeze, all you have to do is wash the vehicle monthly and you're all set. No need to worry about waxing the car ever again!

The main difference between gloss and matte paint protection film lies in appearance and maintenance. Gloss PPF maintains your car's original shine and reflective finish, making colors pop and providing that showroom look. Matte PPF creates a flat, non-reflective surface with a contemporary, subdued appearance. Both offer identical protection against chips, scratches, and UV damage, but gloss films show dirt and fingerprints more easily while matte films require specific cleaning products to avoid streaking.
